The clip frames healthcare AI through an earlier wave of resistance: the shift to electronic medical records. Clinicians often complain about EMRs, yet major medical systems have either completed that transition or are close to doing so.
That precedent matters. If healthcare could not ultimately resist EMRs, the speakers argue, it will be even harder to resist strong AI systems that outperform humans in useful tasks. But adoption will not be smooth. Healthcare is heavily regulated, and the sector’s defensive reaction can be intense.
The Texas telemedicine example captures the pattern: a law once banned telemedicine outright, forcing even visually assessable issues into physical visits. AI could trigger an even sharper response because it challenges workflows, authority, liability, and trust.
The key signal is that the next few years may become a fight between AI capability and healthcare’s institutional immune system. Technical performance alone will not decide the outcome.
